jumping lili

The dogs' toys were recently found after in hiding for a few months. When Joe started juggling them Lili couldn't help but jump in the air. She is really not the active, fetching dog, so I think that made this even better. Oh, and that's Duke whining in the background because Joe won't throw the ball for him, what a baby.

sleepover food

A few weeks ago I had Lisa and Kirsten over for an old fashioned sleepover. We've been friends since elementary school, so many a sleepover were had in our day. This time was a little different. Instead of our parent's houses, we were at my sister's; instead of drinking pop, we had Smirnoff (the malt drinks, it's my beer, don't judge); instead of sleeping bags, we each had a bed or sofa to sleep on; lastly, I made a different kind of junk food. We always had chips and puppy chow, other classic rot your teeth crap our parents had around the house. I found a couple of recipes that were easy and tasted D-E-licious.

First was this interesting version of a rice crispy treat. Made with marshmallows, chocolate and butterscotch chips, and rice cereal. After mixing the marshmallow and rice cereal, it gets spread out thin on a cookie sheet. Then cover with the melted chocolate and butterscotch. Now for the interesting part, roll it all up! To eat, the roll is sliced like bread. Here is what it looked like.

I also made this salsa thing. It was labeled as a nacho, but it doesn't have cheese, so I don't feel comfortable with that term. This one had much more steps, but was also, very delish! Some tomatoes, spices, chicken, beans, corn, and topped with avocado made this salsa a keeper. Also, it was pretty filling. I could see modifying it a little bit to create a main dish.
